The Mission of The Minaki Conservancy is to sustain and enhance the extraordinary natural environment and special community heritage of Minaki for the benefit of all owners and visitors, now and in the future.

CBC TV National news came to Minaki toward the end of August, to do a story on the proposed redevelopment of the Minaki Lodge site for seasonal condominiums by Steinbach developers Bob Banman and Bob Schinkel, focusing on the concerns of year round and seasonal residents. Life-long resident Alex Rheault spoke for the year round residents who have raised concerns, and cottage owner and MCA board member Mark Engebretson spoke for seasonal residents. The severe sewage treatment issues with the proposed Minaki on the River condos, and the impact on the Winnipeg River and then on already-threatened Lake Winnipeg, were a focus of the piece. The year round and seasonal residents want to see the site developed, but at a responsible density and with proper sewage treatment. You can see the segment here.
